  • In the big Cities, stores are usually open from 9:30 am to 8pm, Monday through Saturday.
  • In the Villages, stores are usually open from 9:30 am to 6pm.. And they most likely will be closed during lunch 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Plus Wednesday afternoon a lot of the stores in the Villages are closed, check store door for hours if needed.
  • Some big Grocery stores may be opened till 10:00 pm during the week; it will be advertised on the opening hours on the entrance.
  • Restaurants usually have their closed day on Monday since they are opened on Sunday.
  • 24 hour stores can be found at any big train station. Usually at least a small magazine shop with snacks. Also some of the Gas stations offer 24 hour snack/drink shops (with hefty prices).
  • If you need a drugstore/pharmacy at night run to your next pharmacy in town, there will be a list on the door of the nearest pharmacy that’s open 24 hours (the pharmacies in Germany rotate 24 hour duty).
  • If you are unsure of the opening hours on anything, call ahead. Most people here do speak some basic English.
